Google AI search visibility

Measure whether Google's AI answers name your business, which sources they cite, and which competitors appear beside you.

Measured runs only. Nothing is estimated or simulated.

Plain language

What this actually means

When someone asks Google a question, they may now read a written answer before they reach any link. That answer names a few businesses and points at a few sources. Google AI search visibility is simply whether you are one of the businesses named, and whether your pages are among the sources cited.

You cannot see this in a ranking report. You see it by asking the questions and reading what comes back — which is what an AI visibility tracking run does.

Difference

Rankings versus AI-generated answers

A ranking is positional and fairly stable: your page is at some position for a keyword. An AI answer is generated: it is written fresh, it may cite sources you have never heard of, and it can change with a different phrasing of the same question.

Citations and brand mentions matter because they are how a reader who never scrolls to the links still hears your name. A citation also sends real people to your page. Both are worth recording, and they are counted separately in Rankateer.

AI visibility is measurable. It is not guaranteed, and no honest tool can promise inclusion in an AI answer.

Step by step

How to track your brand in Google AI search

  1. 1

    Add your website

Point Rankateer at the site you want measured, so citations to your own domain can be told apart from every other source.

  2. 2

    Describe your business

Write the full description of what you do. It is used to build the questions, and Rankateer refuses to run on a truncated description.

  3. 3

    Run an AI Visibility check

Real questions go to a live AI answer pipeline. The full answer text and citation links are stored.

  4. 4

    Review answers, citations and competitors

Read each answer, open the cited sources, and see which other businesses were named.

  5. 5

    Track changes over time

Each run is kept, so mention rate can be compared between runs in percentage points, with failed tests excluded.

FAQ

Questions, answered honestly

What is Google AI search visibility?

It is whether a Google AI-generated answer names your business, and which sources that answer cites, for a given question at a given moment.

How is it different from a Google ranking?

A ranking is your page's position among links. An AI answer is generated text that may name a handful of businesses and cite a few sources. A page can rank well and still go unmentioned, or be mentioned without ranking.

Can I control whether Google's AI answers include me?

No. You can make your site clearer, more useful and easier to cite, and you can measure what happens. Inclusion is never guaranteed.

How often should I measure?

Often enough to see a trend and consistently enough to compare. Answers vary by question, model, location and date, so a single run is a snapshot, not a verdict.
